Abstract: The management of the collections from the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona (MCNB) requires a suitable software to manage the vast amount of associated information. Once the available commercial alternatives were analysed, the MCNB finally decided to design their own collections software manager, formally registered as PangeaDB®. The main objective of this project is to meet the specific requirements in the management and documentation of the geological and paleontological collections. Nowadays, the current PangeaDB® version (V.1.0) present interfaces for the collections of Petrology, Paleontology and Mineralogy, but in the future, it could be also adapted to other disciplines. PangeaDB® is an innovation project aimed to be a reference and influential not only for the closest related institutions -official network of museums and natural science centres in Catalonia region- but potentially also at national and international levels. Keywords: collection, data manager, geology, PangeaDB®.
